...how would you say in somali put the phone line in it's socket !! .."
without usin' the word hadig yeah..or fiilo!!
i think umm hamzah, the best way for you to learn the language is to hang with somalis all the time. Make many somali friends, and ask them to teach you. Somalis love speaking their language at every chance they get. In the beginning it may be hard understanding what they say too each other but you'll grab a few words here and there and before you know it , you know the language!.
i knew this sister that went to my school and she always was with us and made friends particularly with one girl and she use to visit her all the time. when we use to hang in a group my friends use to speak in somali, although i thought it was unfair because she didn't understand. But that was how she learnt.
now she speaks so fluently its unbelievable. the best thing to do is to learn to one dialect fluently at first and then you can fry bigger fishes
start learning your husbands dialect first and then others and learn how they vary. Because if you learn it all in one go, sometimes people might not understand certain words you used or maybe the whole sentence!.
And sometimes words you've said in one dialect can be offensive to others! and you'll feel like doing thisAnyway good luck sister i wish you all the best:thankyou:
Can a wife say it to her husband, or is the word different then?
Yeah,A wife can say that to her husband, but the word will be different then.
Ga'aliso = Sweetheart for female
Ga'aliye = Sweetheart for MAle,I mean when you're saying the word to your husband!

Salaamz:thankyou:

Remember... Allah, subhana watala, sees everything we do!
i didnt know that meant sweetheart in somali...i thought it was like ma'anay or something like that...or hoona??
Well..I have never heard of "Hoona" but I know "Huuna" which in somali means "sister" or "brother"
and "Ma'anay" I think it means "sweety".......:sister:
You have got to get up every morning with determination if you want to go to bed with satisfaction
Taqiyah:_Yeah,I agree with you with "Ma'aney" means "sweety".BUT I've never heard that "Huuna"means in somali"Sister" or "brother",I've heard that it means "Mom" or something.

I don't know If I'm correct,so correct me!
Well..........sister "huuna" doesn't mean "mom"
Mom in somali is "hooyo" but I don't know even Somali people tend to speak differently It is confusing
