Abu Hurairah narrated that Allah's Messenger Muhammad said: "Prophet Moses was a shy person and used to cover his body completely because of his extensive shyness. One of the children of Israel hurt him by saying: 'He covers his body in this way only because of some defect in his skin, either leprosy or scrotal hernia, or he has some other defect.
Allah wished to clear Moses of what they said about him, so one day while Moses was in seclusion, he took his clothes and put them on a stone and started taking a bath. When he had finished the bath, he moved towards his clothes so as to take them, but the stone took his clothes and fled. Moses picked up his stick and ran after the stone saying: '0 stone! Give me my garment!' till he reached a group of the children of Israel who saw him naked then and found him in the best shape of what Allah had created, and Allah cleared him of what they had accused him of. The stone stopped there, and Moses took and put on his garment and started hitting the stone with his stick. By Allah, the stone still has some traces of the hitting, three, four, or five marks. This was what Allah the Almighty refers to in His saying: 0 you who believe! Be not like those who annoyed Moses, but Allah cleared him of that which they alleged, and he was honorable in Allah's sight! Surah 33: 69
It isn't humble to cower from religious obligation and delegate it to someone else.. I think that is an assault to the character of Moses (p) and no wonder he was so angry with his people on multiple occasions.. Not sure which is worse, taking a golden calf from stolen goods for a god or mocking their prophet and attributing cowardly traits to him?
Text without context is pretext If your opponent is of choleric temperament, seek to irritate him
Cowardly? Moses was telling God that he is not good enough for this job. In Judaism and Christianity, it is taught that the prophets had human flaws and had actually made mistakes in their lives. But yes, Moses got angry very justifiably. As a Jew, I can honestly say that we have a skepticism habit, and God gets angry because of it. Rejecting Jesus may very well be an example.
Not only was Moses the best person for the job, but he thought so as well! that is why he was asked to accompany zhu el'khidr and learn from him, because Moses (p) thought he was the wisest person amongst his people but Allah swt showed him that there is he who is wiser..
read chapter 18 from the Quran..

one man, against an empire , that was musa. (as) .bless him.
i like this hadith, stupid rock, running away like that! , i would have whippped some manners into it to!
The rock ran till ...where it should stop.....It was planned by THE MASTER - ALLAH Azwajjal.... I think the rock would be happy to be part of ALLAH's plan ... all for good reasons.
I see it as weak and demonstrating a lack of faith in the Al-Mighty. No way did prophet Musa have any of those faults
When you have direct contact with the Al-Mighty and know He has your back, theres no way you would deny His commands or even avoid them
He it is Who sends blessings on you, as do His angels, that He may bring you out from the depths of Darkness into Light: and He is Full of Mercy to the Believers. [Quran {33:43}] www.QuranicAudio.com www.Quran.com
i thought prophets were meant to be role models for humanity, or is that not the case in judaism?
if they are then basically nobody should do anything God commands them because ultimately we can never be perfect and there is probably always somebody better suited to the job than us.
it also means Musa (as) believed his judgement was better than Allahs (swt), unless God was just kidding with musa........
According to Islam, when God told him to tell the Pharaoh free the Israelites from Egypt, did he tell God, "How can I do this? I stutter." Basically telling God He has the wrong man.
this statement is misguided. did Moses attempt to get out God's duty, while claiming a speech impediment?
according to Jewish sources, as well as one of your own posts, YES!
And Moses said, "They won't believe me! They won't do what I tell them to. They will say, 'God never appeared to you'." -Exodus 4:1-
please God, just send someone else!
After God told Moses to throw his rod on the ground and it became a serpent as the first miracle to prove to the people, He gave Moses leprosy on his hand and then after drawing it from his robe, his hand was clean.
But Moses pleaded, "O Lord, I'm just not a good speaker. I never have been, and I am not now, even after You have spoken to me, for I have a speech impediment." Exodus 4:10
not me LORD, i have (a what?) a speech impediment!
But Moses said, "Lord, please! Send someone else!" Exodus 4:13
LORD, you have the wrong guy, send someone else!
Then the Lord became angry. "All right," he said, "Your brother, Aaron is a good speaker. And he is coming here to look for you, and will be very happy when he finds you. So I will tell you what to tel him, and I will help you both to speak well, and I will tell you what to do." Exodus 4:14/15
there is no point to your statement UNLESS you just mean to confirm that the Jewish position and the Islamic position are THE SAME! [while intentionally implying that they aren't ]
Had the non-believer known of all the Mercy which is in the Hands of Allah, he would not lose hope of entering Paradise, and had the believer known of all the punishment which is present with Allah, he would not consider himself safe from the Hell-Fire http://www.muftimenk.co.za/Downloads.html

Asalamualykum very beautiful.
It's a massive shame that these days shyness is associated with having a lack of self confidence.
It's a beautiful and perhaps lost trait...
Reminds me of something my mum said - Someone lowered my mum's position and status and i was ready to confront that person but mum replied saying "My respect is with Allah swt and not the people" Subhan Allah. What a breathtaking statement.
Pain and hardships allow you to grow spiritually Alhamdulilah so smile when a so called calamity befalls upon you.
Alhamdulilah Allah swt is the greatest.
